| The New Passenger Terminal in Constantza Port |
On the 23rd of November 2005 took place, in the presence of Mister Gheorghe Dobre, Minister of Transports, Housing and Tourism, the official inauguration of the new Passenger Terminal in the Port of Constantza.
Constantza Port, the largest Black Sea Port and the main Romanian maritime port has recently added to its existing handling facilities a new one, a modern passenger terminal created in order to increase the port touristic dimension.
Destination for several river cruise lines and maritime lines as well, Constantza Port offers now the optimum conditions for both river cruise vessels and maritime cruise vessels calling at the port, as the existing terminal depths allow it.
The new Passenger Terminal is located in the northern part of Constantza Port, the old port, as it is called, close to the North Breakwater. It is located between two sights: The Royal Pavilion, now transformed into the Port Museum and The Old Lighthouse, built in the time of King Carol I.
The present location of the terminal offers advantages aiming to attract the interest in including Constantza Port within the destinations for cruise tourism: -Direct and easy access for the vessels at the entrance to the port, without the need of additional maneuvers -Its location close to the old historical and touristic part of Constantza city -Existence of easy road connections with the city, facilitating the road and pedestrian transport and not restraining the port activities in the area -Possibility to view points of great historic and touristic interest neighboring the port (The Old Lighthouse, The Port Museum, The Casino, The Aquarium, The Tomis Marina, the peninsular zone of Constantza city) -Easy access to facilities for the transportation, accommodation and entertaining in the resorts situated close to this location.
The new Passenger Terrminal is now waiting new regular lines between Constanta and Black Sea ports.
